IS SAILING IN CROATIA SAFE?

Croatia, ranked 27th on the Global Peace Index, as of 2020, is among the safest countries globally. The Adriatic Sea, where you’ll be sailing, is known for its tranquility, short distances between islands, and numerous sheltered bays and harbors. However, it’s essential to stay vigilant, regularly check weather forecasts, and adjust your route to avoid rough conditions. If you’ve hired a skipper, they’ll expertly navigate these challenges, ensuring your safety.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOAT

Selecting the perfect vessel is crucial. Consider the following:

    • Can your group share cabins, or do some members need separate accommodations?
    • Do you prefer a sailboat or catamaran for added comfort?
    • Are you open to someone sleeping in the common living space (saloon)?
    • Will you need a skipper? If so, keep in mind that the skipper will need a cabin.

SHORT-TERM BOAT RENTALS

In peak season, boat charters typically run from Saturday to Saturday. However, in the off-season (October to April), we can arrange shorter sailing trips based on the number of days you plan to spend on board.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR BAREBOAT CHARTERS

For bareboat charters, you must hold a valid certificate of competence and have at least one person on board qualified to operate the VHF station. Unsure if your license is valid in Croatia? Check our list for verification here.

NO FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS? NO WORRIES!

If you lack formal qualifications, you can still book a boat under the condition that you obtain the required certificates before checking in. Alternatively, you can hire a professional skipper.

WHEN TO CONSIDER A PROFESSIONAL SKIPPER

If you lack sailing experience or don’t possess a sailing license, hiring a skipper is mandatory in Croatia.
